Mend is the song that was supposed to go after Aqua Green Serene on the original version of this album. Aqua Green Serene is about the US Peary that was bombed by Japanese fighter planes in Darwin harbour during WWII. A 4" gun points to the Peary's final resting spot on the ocean floor, and Mend is the story of a soldier who was blown off the ship and is "choosing" to take to the water for good. To stay here, swim, and breathe the deep blue water in, fearlessly assimilating to this exciting new world...
lyrics
I catch the light, reflecting off of you, my friend
Invisible eyes, in this revolving room of light you bend…
Take me inside! Erase this mind I used on land, I’m
Terrified…If this equipment fails, would you want me then to
Stay here, swim, breathe the deep blue water in…breathe it in?
A cannonball of life-like dreaming,
Rushes up my spine, I’m feeling
The echoes of the deepest ocean,
Anchor true my fearless notion…to stay…
So I’ll stay.
I catch the light, I’m a surface dweller with impeccable sight
Welcoming the night, as the deep blue eclipses the surface light.
My lifeline to you goes limp,
With so much to keep, how could I lose
If I don’t wrestle free this fearless notion,
Live a parallel life here…under the water, we will…
Stay here, swim, breathe the deep blue water in.
Stay here, swim, and breathe the deep blue water, breathe it in.
