about
Dave Cunningham, Justin Morton & Brian Taguchi played many acoustic shows, particularly at the Queen's Pub between 1994-1998. Covering anything wooden and vulnerable, from CSNY to Elvis Costello, the joy of altering songs and sounds eventually led Clever Hans to put down the acoustic guitars and bongos for a little while.
In 1997, heavier, prog- and grunge-rock inspired versions of the songs punctuated a rotating stage show showcasing the musical personalities of all three members in all three power-trio positions. With such variance in styles and intensity from song to song, audiences were both entertained by the revolving frontmen and challenged to continually adjust. But, life was moving on quickly, so Clever Hans put aside a week from May 24-31, 1998 to "clean the slate" and create this musical snapshot.
After disbanding and departing for all corners of the globe over 15 years, the album sounds just as nostalgic now as it did a month after it was released back in 1998.
