about

Part 1 is about dreams and ghosts in an English castle - the distorted and time-smeared tales that only walls and trees can tell...

Part 2 is about visiting a coal mine in England, our tour guide lived the height and end of the coal mining era and described work and a lifestyle that I could barely fathom. My hands seemed like baby hands compared to his. He had a permanent black tinge that seemed to have sunk in to each wrinkle of his skin.

lyrics

I dreamt of a picture just you and me
Surrounded, the trees blown down like grass, where
I’d find you waiting for, the colours drained of dirt, the earth sank down
Along the doorstep, moving twice as fast and farther than before
The frame of reference falls subconscious of her mind

I’d give you a line - underfed and overslept, I know
You’d find me waiting there, but difficult to know

I dreamt a picture, the streets a fire
The path, clogged, burning tpwards the fields
The flare of lights beheld, in brilliant disarm, quickly
Smearing all the colours that you’d gathered from the ground the day before
I’m on the doorstep where the earth has sunken down, but

It’s full-proof...You’re fading away again
Into the Dacre room...These malladies forming as
I’d remember too...These thoughts escape you now
When you’re lonely

The coalman’s scraping beneath the surface
The candle light shed on the purpose
The shoes he’s worn are thin with years
Sweating black amongst the tears
The canary was released today
The mine was closed for good
The redundance of a newer world
But how were they to know?

Sunlight soon fades out, the blanket warms, the fire burns...
